Fire Safety – Risk Management
The Jordan School District Fire Inspection Program is an annual activity whereby a Utah State Fire Marshall surveys public schools to identify fire code violations and to make recommendations for improvement. The inspections are based on a School Fire Inspection Form which was developed by the Utah State Fire Marshal.
While this form is based on the International Fire Code, individual state fire inspectors may exercise some judgment in the interpretation of the IFC in response to the items on the School Fire Inspection Form.
The principal is responsible for maintaining a fire-safe school environment. An inspection will not be made unless the inspector is accompanied by the school’s principal, assistant principal, and custodian at the time of the inspection. The inspection will result in a final fire inspection report. This report must be signed by the administrator or designee. The inspector will also conduct an exit conference to point out any violations and to recommend corrective actions.
